The Marr Factory

This year's New Zealand Fashion Week is looming fast (in a few weeks in fact) and what better way to get warmed up than a week long presentation this August of spring collections by the very best local designers? Stephen Marr and Hallertau join forces to curate The Marr Factory - showcasing the spring collections of Karen Walker, Zambesi, Kate Sylvester, NOM*d and Workshop & Helen Cherry at The Golden Dawn in Ponsonby, partnering with bFM. Spanning five days, one designer will show each night, presenting their new Spring 12/13 collections that are beginning to hit stores.

  • Sunday 26th - Karen Walker in association with Black Magazine
  • Monday 27th - Zambesi
  • Tuesday 28th - Workshop and Helen Cherry
  • Wednesday 29th - NOM*d
  • Thursday 30th - Kate Sylvester in association with NZ Herald Viva

Karen Walker, Kate Sylvester and Workshop

We all know Golden Dawn well (I'm sure you've spent as many nights there as I have) and it's the perfect location for a relaxed and, in Marr's words, "rock and roll and anti-corporate" approach to a fashion show. What better way to view the spring collections (just hitting stores now) than while enjoying excellent beer and cider. It's also the perfect opportunity to plan your spring wardrobe if you haven't already.

The best part of all this is that a selection of tickets are available to the public! Capacity for each night is 200 and their will be 50 tickets for each show on sale to the public (NOM*d however has 100 available) for $40 each. You can purchase these at Although the Karen Walker and Workshop/Helen Cherry shows have sold out, there are still tickets available for the other night.

  1. Would love to go to NOM*d if I was back in NZ, they have always been my all time favourites!

  2. This sounds like a really great concept! So the Marr Factory shows are for the ranges that are dropping into stores now, and NZFW are showing Autumn/winter collections?

I really need to make the trip over to NZ soon but I've already booked a sydney trip for the week of NZFW (I live in Brisbane).. will be living vicariously through rag pony no doubt.

    1. Hii yes it's for the spring 12/13 collections that are just starting to hit stores.

NZFW will be showing Autumn/Winter 2013 collections.

  3. This is going to be so so good
    Hoping for pics :)
