Today I had a look at Lonely Hearts' Spring collection

In between about four coffee meetings today, I made a trip over the shore today to check out the new spring collection at Lonely Hearts. Full of classic Lonely Hearts pieces plus new additions like an awesome turtleneck crop top (I need it!!) Great prints too - I particularly love the daisy print and the gingham, I clearly have some latent childhood obsessions.  Honorable mentions also go to the jacquard-knit sweaters with and original fish print as part of their artist-collaboration pieces. Seriously cute. The new Lonely lingerie range also looks really beautiful (as always) and it's definitely designed to be seen. Ideally under something like the great sandwashed-silk camisoles in this spring range. I'll post the lookbook in the next week or two.

  2. New Zealand is way too small - there are at least three fabrics and trims in that collection that I know all to well from cutting samples for Calliope (calliope.net.nz)...the pink and chalk stripe, the black and chalk stripe, the heavy lace in a different colour, and the ladder-lace (faggotting) trim too!

  3. Hi Emma. Sorry I couldn't write this on your form spring but I was wondering how hard it is to become apart of the Vice blogging community? Could you share how you became apart of it, and what are the benefits?

  4. Hi Anon, Vice approached me regarding this. Sorry I don't have more information! Maybe email them?

  5. Re: Anonymous re:Calliope - isn't Calliope/Sills etc a big enough company to source fabrics from outside NZ?

  6. Re - other anonymous - nope not really, only the stuff made in China has fabric sourced from China. Sourcing fabric from Australia (eg Potter Textiles) is a nightmare as it takes so long to arrive that it means those styles arrive in store way after everything else. And Calliope/Sills has been around for a long time but still doesn't get huge amounts of orders on things that aren't "safe" styles as a lot of the boutiques that stock it have an older target market who spend money on quality clothes but don't like to take risks. Calliope is getting a younger customer base now though as we had a new designer start two seasons ago who used to work for Kate Sylvester and Saben.

  7. Re: Anonymous re:Calliope - thanks for your answer but surely Calliope/Sills labels have similar or higher sales/productions levels as Zambesi/Kate Sylvester/Cybele/Salasai and all of those labels manage to source/create original textiles - even for their lower priced garments or second line products

  8. Salasai has rocked a full season later, the cute polka dot chambray that I bought as shorts AND pants by the lovely Lonely Hearts. I don't care, the shorts and pants are still as cute as ever and were so ahead of their time, given that a year is a minute in fashion.
